Management change
The Utz Group has appointed Marc Schürmann as its CEO
Change in operational management at the Utz Group
The Utz Group – a global manufacturer of reusable plastic transport packaging – has appointed Marc Schürmann as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) as of February 1, 2025. Schürmann succeeds Axel Ritzberger, who is leaving the company at his own request to pursue new challenges.
Axel Ritzberger successfully managed the family business for 17 years, guiding it with great prudence through several global crises, the most recent of which was the COVID pandemic, whose effects are still being felt today. Under Ritzberger’s leadership, the business has grown into an international concern and expanded its global presence, with new plants in the USA, China, and Mexico. Today, customized reusable plastic transport packaging is produced at eight locations, primarily for the logistics, automotive, and pharmaceutical industries.
Marc Schürmann, the new CEO, has held various management positions at the Komax Group since 1995, in both Switzerland and abroad, including several years of experience in France and China. He was a member of the Komax Group management since 2019, and most recently he headed the Wire Processing business unit.
In Marc Schürmann, the Utz Group has gained an experienced leader as CEO, who has extensive operational knowledge in the manufacture and marketing of products and services. Schürmann is well acquainted with companies the size of the Utz Group that operate in multiple global locations, and he brings up-to-date industry knowledge.
The Utz Group is an independent family business based in Bremgarten near Zurich. Founded in 1947, the company now employs around 1’400 people at eight locations worldwide. As the global market leader for reusable plastic transport packaging, the company develops customized solutions for automated logistics processes. Its products are characterized by an outstanding ecological footprint and are specially designed for the circular economy.
