2018 marks 20 years since the appearance on the Polish market of Georg Utz sp. z o.o. - a manufacturer of plastic pallets and containers for logistics and industry, belonging to the Swiss group Georg Utz Holding AG. The company began its sales business exactly 20 years ago, initially importing containers from its sister plant in Germany before starting production in 2000 at its own factory in Kąty Wrocławskie. Georg Utz is the only Swiss holding in Central-Eastern Europe, and the first company with foreign capital specialising in the production of plastic logistics systems on the Polish market. The round anniversary of the Polish plant was celebrated on 26 May in the monumental interior of Wrocław’s Hala Stulecia. Nearly 600 Utz employees from 8 plants in Poland, Germany, Switzerland, France, Great Britain, China, the USA and Mexico took part in the ceremony,
"The 20th anniversary of the company’s arrival in Poland is an exceptional celebration and a major event in the company's history. Consistency, breaking down barriers in thinking about logistics, and faith in our success - these have brought tangible results in the form of top position in the industry. Thank you to our customers, partners and employees for these two decades of working together. It’s thanks to your commitment and activeness that we have managed to achieve our bold aims and intentions I hope that the coming years will bring more interesting ideas and challenges," said Wojciech Bytner, Director General of Georg Utz sp. z o.o.
The factory in Kąty Wrocławskie has undergone reconstruction twice - the first time in 2005 when the warehouse area was divided off into a separate hall. In 2015-2016, another reconstruction saw the plant double its area to 12,000 m2. The investment carried out resulted in the creation of a second warehouse, and the two technologies used by the manufacturer - injection moulding and thermoforming - were located in separate production halls. This enabled the range of products for the Polish, Czech and Russian markets to be extended, and increased the flexibility and speed of reaction to customer needs. The plant currently operates in four halls and has the possibility to use another two. Georg Utz sp. z o.o. started its business in 1998 with a workforce of seven. Today Georg Utz employs 100 people.
The decision to site the plant here in Poland, in Kąty Wrocławskie, was due to the convenient geographical location near the other Utz plants in Germany and Switzerland. The distance of 1,000 km from each of them and the proximity of the motorway enabled the injection moulds, vital for the production of containers, to be transported easily. Another highly significant factor was the country’s dynamic economic development, particularly in the motor industry which is the main customer for Utz products, and also the perspective of Poland joining the European Union.
Utz’s business idea is to offer customers robust reusable packaging which they can make long-term use of. When they reach the end of their lifetime, the plastic containers are recycled and thus return to the production process. Utz products have applications in many sectors of the economy - the automotive, electronics, food and pharmaceutical industries, automation, warehousing and also trade and e-commerce. The portfolio of companies served by Georg Utz includes: Bosch, Cadbury, Delphi, Mlekpol, Piotr i Paweł, Rossmann, Poczta Polska, Viessmann and Volkswagen. The company focuses on serving the Polish, Czech and Russian markets.

Utz supports social and community initiatives including the Noble Box Project, which organises an annual festive present collection at the company. It also cooperates with the Wrocław Children’s Hospice Foundation, and supports local initiatives in the district. Utz is a patron of the Mountain Half-Marathon in Jedlina Zdrój.
