What are technical plastic parts?
Technical plastic parts are elements made of synthetic material that are built into or used in a technical mechanism. A simple example: the cover for the porthole on a washing machine is a technical plastic part that is integrated into the overall mechanism of a washing machine; without this part, it would not work. Technical plastic parts are categorized into simple structure parts and complicated structure parts. What they both have in common is that they fit seamlessly into the overall technical apparatus.

Production Processes
Different technical plastic part requirements need to be flexible when it comes to the production processes used.
Injection molding
If technical plastic parts should be produced with high repeat accuracy, precise fit and dimensional precision, the injection molding process is the best choice. However, injection molding tools made of solid steel are complex and therefore cost intensive.
Thermoforming / vacuum forming
However, if only small quantities are planned or the products need to be available on short notice, thermoforming is a sensible and usually more economical option than other processes.
The aluminum tools used for thermoforming are significantly cheaper than the steel tools used for injection molding.
The decision to use one of the two processes is a matter of customer-specific conditions. Overall, the choice between two production processes enables a high degree of flexibility in responding to customers’ demands.
